Are imported Mazda CX-5s different from NZ-new ones?

In some details, yes: Rightcar lists a manual diesel among imported CX-5s, while every NZ-new diesel it lists is a six-speed automatic.

Rightcar also has no official fuel figures or safety-equipment list for imports, so check an imported car’s own spec rather than assuming it matches an NZ-new grade.

Ask for the Japanese auction sheet: auction houses grade each car from 0 to 6 on overall condition, and an R or RA grade means it has had accident repairs. Every used import is also inspected and entry-certified at the border, including a check for odometer tampering.
